Fall 2013 40K Escalation League
There will also be random drawings at each point level for players who report for small prizes, including dfw40k.com tape measures.
Rules and Info (these are the exact same rules as originally created for the Summer 2013 League):
SCORING:
Each participant will play 2 games at the specified point level against 2 different opponents. A win is worth 4 points, a draw 3 points, and a loss 2 points. Subtract one point if your army is not fully painted (painted bases optional) for that battle. Games missed at one point level can be made it up at the next level (so if you aren't able to find 2 games at 750pts you can play 4 at 1000pts for example).
RULES:
Any Games Workshop published army lists are allowed, including Forgeworld and White Dwarf lists and units that have been updated to 6th edition (except super-heavies and other Apocalypse scale units). If in doubt please contact league organizer Matt Plummer.
All models should be WYSIWYG, especially conversions, but do not have to be all ForgeWorld or Citadel miniatures.
Each player should bring a copy of their army list to the game for their opponent.
All results should be reported to the league organizer and include point level, the names of both players, the results (who won/who lost), the mission and deployment type, and your army list (there should be a report for
each battle from both players).
COMBAT PATROL RULES (Modified from Adepticon):
• Armies will consist of 500 points or less, and must conform to the following Force Organization restrictions:
⇒ 0 - 1 HQ
⇒ 1 - 3 Troops (you MUST bring at least one Troop choice)
⇒ 0 - 1 Elite
⇒ 0 - 1 Fast Attack
⇒ 0 - 1 Heavy Support
⇒ 0 - 1 ‘Swing Slot’ (this maybe be used to field one additional Troops, Elite, Fast Attack OR Heavy Support choice)
• Armies are not required to take mandatory unit choices. All other unit restrictions (i.e. 0 - 1) apply.
• You may spend remaining points on units from anywhere in the Codex.
• No Special/Unique/Named Characters are allowed.
• As only one HQ is available, Allies are not allowed.
• With the exception of Troops and models with the Swarm USR, No model can have more than 2 Wounds.
• Aside from Troops choices and dedicated Transports, only vehicles with a maximum of 11 in any armor facing may be taken. Dedicated transports and troops may have a maximum armor facing of 12. Vehicle Squadrons and Artillery units are permitted provided every unit within the unit individually would be permitted. Vehicle upgrades that increase an armor facing may only raise the armor value to a maximum of 12 (this includes Necron Quantum Shielding).
•Rules Modification (Psykers): All Psykers may use ONE Warp Charge per game turn. Psykers may exchange powers as normal.
•Rules Modification (Flyers/Reserves): At the start of your Turn One, and each turn thereafter, you must roll a D6 for each Flyer being held in reserve. If the roll is 3 or more, the Flyer and all embarked units arrive at the start of the following turn. Flyers and all embarked units will automatically arrive at the start of Turn Five. Example: On Turn Three, a Necron Night Scythe with troops makes a successful Reserve Roll - they will arrive on Turn Four. There is no need to make a Reserve Roll at the beginning of Turn Four, as all remaining Flyers and embarked units will automatically show up at the beginning of Turn Five.
Good luck, aspiring commanders!

Intro To Hobby Tourney Sat, Jan 12 at Gunslinger Games
Interested players of all experience levels are welcome--in fact the Combat Patrol format is particularly effective for players new to the hobby:
•Armies of 400 Points or less.
•One core TROOPS choice mandatory.
•One HQ choice optional (patrol leader may be a squad upgrade such as a veteran sergeant).
•No Characters, Monsters or other unit types with more than 2 Wounds.
•No Vehicles with combined Armour Value greater than 34 (front/side/rear AV added, ie a Dreadnought with 12/12/10 is patrol-legal).
•Although there will be scoring of and prizes for Painting, participation requires only that used models be assembled, based and equipped as they will be played (ie with proper weapons and upgrades).
•Play consists of three 50 minute games in succession--by tournament's end, hobbyists will have a working familiarity with the game and with the core of their army, upon which they can readily build.
•Play begins after lunch and is finished before dinner!
To get those holiday gifts into action, players may register one of two ways:
•Make a purchase at host Gunslinger Games of $10 or greater, sign up in-store, then confirm your registration and what army you will play at Outrider@AdeptusNorthTexas.com (or on the Adeptus email list).
•Buy a participation entry from host Gunslinger Games for $10, sign up in-store, then confirm your registration and what army you will play at Outrider@AdeptusNorthTexas.com (or on the Adeptus email list).
The Combat Patrol tournament will run from Noon till 4:30pm.
Assemble you core patrol, be it an assemblage of grizzled veteran models, a shiny new addition to a familiar force, or an all-new, never-tried first excursion into the hobby, and let slip the dogs of forty-first millennium war, Saturday, January 12, at Gunslinger Games.

V6 Combat Patrol Tourney at Gunslinger Games
Gunslinger Games hopes to recreate July's success by welcoming hobbyists to another opportunity to explore Warhammer 40,000 Sixth Edition Saturday, September 8 through a Combat Patrol Tournament--this one with an army composition upgrade offer!
As before, players may sign up in advance at Gunslinger Games by either paying a $5 entry fee or making a $10 or more purchase; players may sign up on the day of the event for a $10 entry fee or by making a $10 or more purchase if slots remain. The event will run from Noon until approximately 4:30pm.
Combat Patrol forces are traditionally 400-point-maximum, no Allies armies chosen from one in-print 40K Codex which *must* have at least one core Troops choice; the remainder of the Force Org can be chosen from a maximum of one HQ choice (maximum 2 Wounds, no 2+ Saves), vehicles with a maximum AV of 34 (adding Front, Rear and Side Armour [once]), and additional units of choice which do not exceed 2 Wounds and do not include 2+ Saves. A Combat Patrol Commander figure must be identified; this will be the HQ choice if taken, or a unit leader or other readily identifiable model, otherwise.
Because codices--and in fact the core rules themselves--have undergone considerable revision since Combat Patrol tournament limitations were originally conceived, players may, for this event, alter the above-described traditional force composition in the following way: each player may select one character or unit for their Combat Patrol which exceeds Combat Patrol limitations--but the character or unit will operate for the duration of the tourney under said limitations. In other words--players may select, and pay the full codex points cost for, one character or unit which has more than 2 Wounds, but that character or all models in that unit will play at the event with a maximum of 2 Wounds (simulating pre-existing injury or debilitation); players may select, and pay the full codex points cost for, one character or unit which has a 2+ Save, but that character or all models in that unit will play at the event with a maximum of a 3+ Save (simulating armour breakdown or wear-and-tear); and players may select, and pay the full codex points cost for, a single vehicle which exceeds the maximum AV of 34, but that vehicle will play at the event with AV values of 12/12/10 or 13/11/10, whichever most closely approximates its actual AV (simulating sustained damage to the vehicle prior to battle). Most players will, of course, not opt to play these more expensive characters, units and vehicles at less than their peak efficiency, but for those whose particular codex dramatically limits their options--or who are willing to suffer the on-table penalty in order to field an army more consistent with their theme and vision--this twist offers considerable flexibility. Further exceptions to the standard Combat Patrol force composition limitations are possible but must be approved by the Event Moderator via the Adeptus North Texas emailing list in advance (the only likely candidate which occurs at time of this writing would be a player wishing to take an HQ choice in Tactical Dreadnought Armour with the special ability to then turn a squad of Terminators into a Troops choice, and thus field a Patrol of all Terminators, and something like this, being obviously thematic and cool, would likely receive a waiver allowing the second exceptional unit--but they would all be operating for the tourney with 3+ effective Saves, so said player is really going to have to like playing his Terminators...).
Chosen HQ choices will be able to roll on the Warlord chart for this event if ordinarily eligible to do so. Fortifications may be chosen for this event as part of the player's 400 point force, as per V6 rules. The Fortifications are not subject to the AV limit.
Participating players must have at least two printed, legible and accurate Army Lists with their names on the List, one of which will be turned in to the moderator for verification, table and opponent assignment before the first round begins. This was an area of considerable non-compliance in July; please take the time to complete this participation requirement for the September 8 event.
Models must be primarily Citadel miniatures, fully assembled and properly, legally based; as an introduction to V6-oriented event, forces need not be fully painted *but* there will be a prize for the Best Painted Patrol and every effort will be made for players with painted armies to play opponents with painted armies.
The event will consist of three rounds, following this schedule:
12pm: Check-In/Army List Turn-In/Table Assignment
12:15-1:15pm: Round One
1:30-2:30pm: Round Two
2:45-3:45pm: Round Three
4-4:30pm: Announcement of Winners
Prizes will be awarded as soon as final scores are tallied.
Prizes will be awarded in the form of Gunslinger Games gift cards and entry fee waivers for future events!
Games between any players who are also participating in the North Texas Norh'Tek Nebula V6 Campaign will count extra, and have special campaign conditions in play.
Come spend an afternoon getting to know Warhammer 40,000 Sixth Edition Saturday, September 8 from Noon to 4:30pm, at Gunslinger Games' next V6 40K Combat Patrol Tourney! Commanders, choose your Patrols well!

Results: V6 Combat Patrol at Gunslinger Games
22 players, representing 12 different armies, clashed over three rounds of 41st millennium combat at Gunslinger Games Saturday afternoon, July 28; emerging triumphant from the dust and mire:
•Best General: Shane (Dark Eldar)
•Best Painted: Donny (Imperial Fists Space Marines)
•Best Sportsman: Shay (Orks)
•Murphy's Luck (sponsored by Hitting On 3s): Juan Diaz (Eldar)
Enthusiasm was high, and considerable fun appeared to have been had; over $75 in prizes was a nice return for an afternoon's pitched battle (thank you, Gunslinger Games). Watch Adeptus for another, soon.

2011 Commanders Challenge Combat Patrol Rules
The ongoing Commanders Challenge at Lone Star Comics Dallas includes a 400 Point, one-day Combat Patrol Tournament, for hobbyists to test their war leader in the crucible of battle! 'Combat Patrol' rules are not included in Fifth Edition Warhammer 40,000; each army must meet the following build criteria:
- 400 Points maximum.
- 1 Troops choice minimum.
- 1 HQ choice, which must be the model submitted for the Commanders Challenge; no limits (Armour, Wounds, Special Character) apply to the HQ.
- No 2+ Armour Save models (unless the HQ).
- No 3 or more Wound models (unless the HQ).
- No vehicle with a combined AV (Front/Side/Rear) exceeding 33 points.
Each participant *MUST* have a completed, legal, accurate and legible army list to turn in to the moderator at the beginning of the tournament on Sunday (which means participants should bring at least two, to keep one for themselves, and as many as five, so that each of their three opponents can have a copy). The rules and scoring will be consistent with those used in local 'Combat Patrol' tournaments in recent years:
FORMAT
Eight Players; 400 Point Armies using Combat Patrol rules; three games of approximately 45 minutes' duration each (including setup); highest total score of the available points (detailed following) wins the tourney.
POINTS
- Painting: Maximum 10 Points.
- Sportsmanship: Maximum 5 Points.
- Army List: Maximum of 5 Points.
- Games: Maximum of 15 Points.
- Presentation: Maximum of 5 Points.
PAINTING
*All Players entering the Tournament must attest they are primarily responsible for having painted their armies themselves. This does not preclude assistance from parents/friends/significant others, so long as the painting is primarily representative of the player's own skill and effort.*
Painting Scoring is cumulative (undercoated figures with no other paint but elaborate bases still score only at the first 1 Point level, for example).
Armies which require no level 4 decals/squad markings (some Tyranid and Necron armies, as an example) are not penalized for that, and will simply either receive 3 points or 5+, as appropriate to the level completed.
- 1 Point--All figures/vehicles assembled, based and undercoated (anything less is zero).
- 2 Points--Judge's optional score for armies with one (or more) models at previous level, but one (or more) at a level higher on the Painting Scoring scale.
- 3 Points--Above plus all figures in basic uniform colour(s) plus all obvious details (facial skin, weapons/weapons cases, shoulder pads/trim, bases, etc) complete.
- 4 Points--Above plus all appropriate decals/squad markings added.
- 5 Points--Above plus details painted (pouches, lenses, skulls, aquila, etc).
- 6 Points--Above plus bases flocked or otherwise scenicked.
- 7 Points--Judge's optional score for excellence to the above level, before advanced painting techniques are attempted.
- 8 Points--Above plus effective washes or highlighting (effectiveness to be determined by judges).
- 9 Points--Above plus effective blending (effectiveness to be determined by judges).
- 10 Points--Award of Merit for ONE of the armies which qualified for 9 Points; this Player will receive an extra point (for a Painting score of 10), and receive the award for Best Painter.
If no Players qualify for 9 Points, the Player with the highest score in Painting will receive the Award of Merit for Best Painter but will retain the lower earned Painting score, for calculating Overall Winner. In the event of a tie the winner will be determined by consensus of the judges.
SPORTSMANSHIP
Each Player will confidentially score their three opponents for Sportsmanship under the following guidelines, be scored by their own opponents under the same guidelines, and will, at the end of all three rounds, cast a vote for which of the three opponents they played (if any) they considered Best Sportsman. Sportsmanship consists primarily of how much fun the opponent provided and how civilly and courteously the opponent conducted themselves, but how much fun the army the opponent brought in terms of theme, background or logic can be considered, as well.
Each Player will have their lowest score dropped, making the Sportsmanship available points range 0-4; among Players tied for the high score, the Player receiving the most votes for Best Sportsman will then get an additional Award of Merit for Sportsmanship point, for a maximum Sportsmanship score of 5 Points. In the event of a tie in score and in number of votes cast for Best Sportsman, ALL tied Best Sportsmen will receive the additional point:
- 0 Points--Not a fun opponent. Not an opponent I would like to play again.
- 1 Point--A quality 40K opponent I would happily face again.
- 2 Points--An outstanding 40K opponent who made our game more memorable and fun than average.
ARMY LIST
- 1 Point--Printed, legible Army List presented to judges at beginning of tourney, with player's name on List, all units accurately identified (including Force Org allocation, gear and squad options) and pointed out; list conforms to the rules of Combat Patrol (anything less is zero).
- 2 Points--Above plus a copy of the Army List provided for each opponent.
- 3 Points--Above plus army and all characters/units/vehicles evocatively named.
- 4 Points--Above plus either written background for the Army or decorative artwork/presentation for the List undertaken by Player (or both).
- 5 Points--Award of Merit for ANY Army List which achieves 4 Points which judges deem of exceptionally high quality, either in written background, decorative presentation, or both.
GAMES
Players in each game will receive 2 Points for a Loss and 5 Points for a Win (scenarios at the 400-point army level will not accomodate Draws). Even-numbered Players (2,4,6,8) will play Odd-numbered Players (1,3,5,7) in Game One, unless the moderator adjusts initial pairings (to avoid like armies facing each other, etc). The four winning Players will face each other in one bracket and the four losing Players will face each other in another bracket in Game Two. The two undefeated Players will face each other in Game Three, with the remaining six Players bracketed to face a Player they've not yet played in Game Three. This will produce a minimum Games score of 6 and a maximum Games score of 12 except for the one Undefeated Player who will earn 15 Points, and the Award of Merit for Best General. For Tournaments with greater than eight participants, this general swiss system will be followed but modified by that number of players.
PRESENTATION
Players may earn up to 5 Points for Presentation of their armies at Tournament. These points may be earned as follows:
- 1 Point--Having a decorative presentation base/carrying tray/diorama for displaying/transporting their army.
- 1 Point--Having notable effective conversion(s) to figures/vehicles which personalize their army. Conversions can be as simple as substituting bitz from one GW figure to another or as elaborate as from-scratch greenstuff-sculpting, but the qualifying conditions are that said conversions be 'notable'--ie, that the judges notice them--and 'effective'--meaning that they add to, rather than detract from, the presentation of a Player's army (note that Players should feel free to point out conversions to judges to meet the first criteria, as very few of even the most well-qualified judges will be familiar with every figure, vehicle kit and bit GW produces!).
- 1 Point--An additional Award of Merit point for Presentation may be presented by the judges in any instances where the notable effective conversions in an army are deemed to be of exceptionally high quality or the Display board is considered notably effective, evocative or otherwise well-done.
- 1 Point--Event Specific Award: Most Combat Patrols are held in conjunction with a larger event, and participating in that event in some fashion specificied can earn participants this additional point for Presentation. This can include modeling a specific character for the Tournament (such as the Waaghmbat) or participating in a related activity (such as the previous day's 'bring and build/paint and play' during the Hobby Weekend); for the Commanders Challenge, any participant who has either already placed his Commander at Lone Star Dallas for display or who leaves it in the display cabinet following conclusion of the event--in other words, who has *finished* the model--will receive this award.
- 1 Point--Award of Merit for Best Army: one Player will receive an additional point for having the highest combined score from the categories of Painting, Army List and Presentation, and will receive the Award of Merit for Best Army.
AWARDS
Awards of Merit for Army List, Presentation and Event will be presented in the form of Points added to Players' Overall scores, as noted above.
Prizes (in addition to Points, where noted above) will be awarded for:
- Award of Merit for Best Sportsman
- Award of Merit for Best Painter
- Award of Merit for Best General
- Award of Merit for Best Army
- Overall Tournament Championship Award
- Murphy's Luck Award (presented to that Player who, more than any other, was deserted and betrayed by Lady Luck, the Hand of Fate and his Dice during the Tournament)

2009 North Texas Games Workshop Hobby Weekend Combat Patrol Rules
Each North Texas Games Workshop Hobby Weekend concludes with a 400 Point, one-day Combat Patrol Tournament, for hobbyists to test their new forces in the crucible of battle! 'Combat Patrol' rules are not included in Fifth Edition Warhammer 40,000, so for Hobby Weekends, each army must meet the following streamlined build criteria:
- 400 Points maximum.
- 1 Troops choice minimum.
- 0-1 HQ choice, with a maximum of 2 Wounds; if no HQ is chosen, a squad leader or equivalent must be declared the army commander. No model may exceed 2 Wounds, regardless of Force Org allocation.
- No vehicle with an AV above 12 on any facing.
Note that these streamlined changes do allow some things which 'Combat Patrol' lists used to exclude (Terminators and Dreadnoughts, specifically) in order to maximize use of the contents of the new Assault on Black Reach starter box, for beginning players.
FORMAT
Eight Players (can be expanded to a maximum of 16 players if sufficient tables are available); 400 Point Armies using Combat Patrol rules; three games of approximately 45 minutes' duration each (including setup); highest total score of the 40 available points (detailed following) wins the tourney.

- Award of Merit for Best General
- Award of Merit for Best Army
- Overall Tournament Championship Award

Results: 40K V5 Academy Tournament
HobbytownUSA Dallas' 40K V5 Academy, which was free with the purchase of the new rulebook, concluded two successful evening skullsessions and practice games with the first fifth-edition tournament in the area, which in three rounds introduced the competitors to all three of the new Missions and Deployment Conditions. Thursday evening's session was attended by eleven hobbyists, with fourteen more on Friday; each received a customized 'V5 cheat sheet' summarizing the major change's from V4 to V5, and participated in exercises and practice games to familiarize themselves with most of those changes. The 'cheat sheet' will be made available to every hobbyist in the North Texas area shortly as a download at http://www.AdeptusNorthTexas.com.
Twelve of the Academy participants entered the tournament on Saturday. The races of the forty-first millennium were well represented, with three Space Marine armies and a Daemonhunter inquisition force representing the Imperium, a craftworld and two Dark Eldar forces, two Tyranid hives, an ork horde, a Necron detachment and a Tau cadre completing the dozen (Chaos was inexplicably absent in any form...). Three players entered the final round undefeated: Juan's Tau and Jackson's Daemonhunters clashed on the Ancient Earthen Ruins top table--but when their struggle ended in a Draw, leaving them both 2-0-1 and tied for Second, the Overall Tournament Victory went to the only undefeated *and* untied player, Brady and his Tyranids.
Over half the armies were fully painted, and several of those which were't because they were fielding new and not-yet-painted squads would have vied for top honours, had the rest of their armies been finished: Jeff's terrific-looking wraithbone-accented Eldar Guardians and Josh T's screaming-bright-red Ork trukk spring particularly to mind. In a sporting display, two-thirds of the armies received at least one vote for Favorite Army, and two-thirds of the players votes for Best Sportsman--and (although it was not prohibited), no one voted for themselves, which reflects that highly-sporting atmosphere. Brady's Tyranids, Josh S's Space Marines, Bill's Space Marines, Tommy's Dark Eldar and Eric's Dark Eldar all received multiple Favorite Army votes--but the clear winner was Juan's beautifully-executed (and perennial favorite) Tau. Brady and Jeff earned multiple Best Sportsman votes, and both Josh S and Bill accomplished the rare and laudable feat of being named Best Sportsman by all three opponents they faced--including each other!
Curiously, Josh S and Bill also vied for the not-exactly-coveted 'Murphy's Luck Award:' ordinarily, when an unit performs as futilely over the course of three games as Josh's Land Speeder did (destroyed every game, killed exactly one model in the course of doing so) it would be a slam dunk--but then Bill mustered a shooting performance in the final game of such surpassing futility as to become the stuff of legend: with a shooting-oriented Space Marine army, and against a ravenous-for-hand-to-hand-combat bug horde, he shot over eighty times, including several multiple-model-targeting template missiles...and inflicted a grand total of five wounds, before having his spectacular ill-fortune wiped from memory in a tide of nearly-full-strength chitinous fangs-and-claws. Frankly, I've never seen anything quite like it...
Kudos to these winners of an outstanding field, which also included Alex's Tyranids (Alex lost only once, also, making the Great Devourer's V5 debut an impressive 5-1), Blake's Necrons and Kyle's Space Marines; and thanks to Games Workshop and HobbytownUSA Dallas for hosting and supporting with fine prizes. The fifth era has begun!
- OVERALL CHAMPION: Brady Allen, Tyranids
- RUNNER UP: Jackson Elliott, Daemonhunters
- FAVORITE ARMY: Juan Diaz, Tau
- BEST SPORTSMAN: Josh Sherman, Space Marines
- MURPHY'S LUCK AWARD: Bill Mikesell, Space Marines

Results: Waaghmbat Patrol Tournament Final!

Five consecutive weeks. Fifteen rounds. Three dozen participants. Over a hundred individual games. One Champion.
The four preliminary heat qualifiers in the North Texas Combat Patrol series, The Waaghmbat Patrol, met at Games Workshop Grapevine Mills Sunday in a round-robin, winner-take-all final to determine the Warhammer 40,000 'Combat Waaghmbat' of North Texas. All four participants put forth amazing efforts: representatives from Games Workshop US Headquarters in Baltimore were on hand on the day, and took home copies of the graphically-beautiful, content-intensive army lists completed by the finalists (as well as some choice creative examples from previous rounds!) to show off around the home office; all four finalist armies were not only completely painted, but to uniformly masterful degrees (the tables looked stunning--expect to see photos uploaded providing coverage imminently); all four finalists had attractive framing display bases for showing off (and safely transporting) their armies (the Ork players in particular outdid themselves in this Presentation category); and virtually every battle was closely-contested, as these generals faced scenarios more complex and tactically challenging than any in earlier heats.
Competition was ferocious; at the end of the day, the three runners-up were separated by exactly one point...and the Overall Winner had truly earned his victory.
As befit a tournament series saluting the green scourge of the forty-first millennium, two of the four finalists--Aaron Wheatcraft representing HobbyAnnex and Steve Triolet representing Lone Star Comics--fielded new Ork armies (though--perhaps portentously--The Waaghmbat himself was absent from both patrols); their opponents--Bob Westbrook representing GW Grapevine Mills and Juan Diaz representing HobbytownUSA Dallas--both fielded examples of the 40K army which has become the dominant tabletop force in North Texas, the Tau. Tau pre-eminence continued, with Bob and Juan facing each other undefeated in the final round, in a tense combat which tipped either way more than once: though dice exerted their tyranny, as they will, the question of victory on the top table ultimately hinged on decisions each general made, and the consequences of same...and Juan's unsung Kroot--appropriately, as by consensus they were the very best looking unit amongst four wholly-gorgeously-finished armies, and actually developed a cheering section of their own during the course of the event!--shot Bob's Crisis Suit off the high ground and seized it themselves, to deliver the day to HobbytownUSA Dallas' Juan Diaz!
BEST OVERALL/ WAAGHMBAT PATROL TOURNAMENT CHAMPION: Juan Diaz/Tau
Though the greater good could claim to have been served, even in defeat the Orks prevailed--as Juan used his Winner's Gift Card to acquire a selection of brand new 40K Ork models to begin his new greenskin army. Waaagh!!!
Thanks to the four sponsoring retailers and their staffs, and to Games Workshop US for its generous and unfailing support. Congratulations to winner, finalists and all of the prizewinners and participants in this month-long event! Keep abreast of all things related to the Games Workshop hobby--including future contests such as these!--here, on Adeptus North Texas!
Results: Waaghmbat Patrol Week Two: HobbyAnnex

Eight Warhammer 40,000 force commanders squared off at HobbyAnnex's Bunker '44 Game Room in Week Two of the four-week, February-long North Texas Combat Patrol tournament series...The Waaghmbat Patrol. The Waaghmbat himself made two appearances this time around--and perhaps not coincidentally, the Orks dominated!
- BEST OVERALL/ROUND TWO CHAMPION: Bob Westbrook/Orks
- BEST GENERAL/2nd Overall: Aaron Wheatcraft/Orks
- BEST ARMY/3rd Overall: Jack Salva/Orks
- BEST PAINTED: Juan Diaz/Eldar
- BEST SPORTSMAN: Pablo Lucero/Space Marines
- MURPHY'S LUCK AWARD: Andrew Silver/Tyranids
Dave Silver/Orks and Steve Burroughs/Chaos Space Marines also competed; particular thanks go to Steve, who stepped in to fill the eighth slot after one entrant failed to show up and none of the alternates were present to claim the slot.
This week's heat was much closer, with the second place army only three points behind the winner, and third, fourth and fifth each a point behind the other, after. It is worth noting that the overall winner has come to each heat prepared, leaving very few available points unclaimed before the first round of dice are rolled...and in each week, that has made a difference.
As the winner of both Week One's tournament with his Tau and Week Two's tournament with his Orks, Bob had choice of which to take to the Waaghmbat Patrol final at GW Grapevine Mills Sunday, March 2nd. Bob opted to play the final with his Tau, so runner-up Aaron and his Orks, who bested Bob on the top table in Week Two to claim Best General, will represent HobbyAnnex in the final round-robin, winner-takes-all event!
Thanks to the staff of HobbyAnnex for hosting the round, and providing terrific prize support. On to round three. Waagh!
